Still Struggling with Addition and Subtraction?

Do you have students who still struggle with the basic concepts of addition and subtraction? Has the rest of the class moved far ahead of these students? As a special ed teacher, I always said, “Let’s go back to the beginning.”

Inclusion for all is a worthy goal, but sometimes students get pulled along like a wave with the rest of the class. At times they seem to understand, but then when they are assessed, the hard truth comes out.

Because of these challenges, I created practice binders that go “back to the beginning.” These binders were designed so that paraprofessionals could teach with them as well as myself.

EVERY page has teacher instructions. Kids use a dry erase marker and various manipulatives to complete the exercises. These binders give students real opportunities to achieve mastery. They do not take the place of regular math instruction, but are a supplement to it. You can also send them home for parents to use.

What’s inside the binders?

Practice and review to mastery is something we owe to ALL students. Going “back to the beginning” fills in the gaps for concepts that were missed and builds confidence.
